History

Bartlett Track and Field is full of some amazing feats, records, and even some Alaska Sports Hall of Famers! Here are a few to start:

Coach Larry Whitmore
Coach Whit was the Bartlett High School coach from its opening in 1973 to 1991, coaching the men and women Golden Bears to Regional and State titles in most of his years. He is an Alaskan Hall of Fame inductee, and you can click his name above for more information.

DOUG HERRON’S 800 METER RUN
Doug Herron was one of Coach Whit's athletes during the peak of Bartlett Track in the 1980s. Herron's 800m run in the State Championship meet in 1985 became legendary as he hit a time of 1:49.2 - the fastest high school time in entire country that year, and a record that still stands today in Alaska.
